The Suzuki SV1000S is not the naked version of the model. If you are looking for the Suzuki SV1000, which is the naked, more affordable bike of the two, you will be disappointed. I don't think Suzuki is still selling them.
So what's so special about the SV1000S? First of all, being a liter class bike, you get a 1000 cc. engine that produces oodles of power. The engine is a V-twin one, so that means that you get access to the huge power reserve at any speed or RPM. There is so much power that sometimes you won't even need to down shift to a lower gear. Engine
The Suzuki SV 100S is a large V-twin manufactured over 120 bhp at the rear wheel when it first appeared in the TL1000S. But it was unfortunate that the bike had handling issues. As a result, Suzuki tamed it to a little over 100 bhp. It is claimed that the power of the engine of the bike is 118 bhp.
With such a strong engine, you will be getting a mind boggling top speed and even more stunning acceleration.
Ride and Handling
Aluminum frame with traditional suspension helps the bike to work well. Although the suspension of the bike is not quite as good as pure sports bikes, it is suitable for most users. You will find that the SV1000S is extremely willing to change directions at high speeds. The handling of the bike is excellent - just like other Suzuki produced performance bikes. This bike is more than capable enough for handling sharp bends and twisty roads and should give you oodles of joy while you conquer the roads.
Since the bike has so much pulling power, the brakes need to have great stopping powers as well. With the SV1000S, the brakes work effectively and should give you all the confidence, as well as the stopping powers for a more inspiring ride.
Equipment
All the equipments of the bike are well equipped. The headlights of the bike are better than most other bikes. So, it is a bonus. Besides, mirrors are worthy of acceptance. Moreover, under seat space is more than average.
Seating
The seat is not comfortable. I know this can be subjective but most of the bikers who own the SV1000S agree that it is not meant for a long range weekend, or even week-long road trip. You will feel some soreness in your back and legs in an hour. A simple solution to this is to change the original seat with something more supportive and comfortable. On the other hand though, many will enjoy the sporty and aggressive seating position.
To conclude this article, the Suzuki SV1000S is an all-around bike. It is easy to ride, has a user friendly engine, competitively priced, and possesses almost perfect dynamics. It is also very reliable and with regular servicing and maintenance, it should serve you for many years to come. However, it is not without any cons. Its seat is not comfortable. The engine heats up easily and does not do a good job dissipating the heat. Besides, it is not smooth or comfortable enough for a long drive. Despite these cons, I still like this bike a lot.
