The Honda XL1000V varadero is a nice bike for a beater. I owned a 2003 model so it's fuel injected and has an extra 6th gear. The honda XL1000v is economical and because of the extra gear is a better tourer. The honda engine in this bike just thumps quietly away under neath you unlike other bikes were it sounds like it would set you on fire from the sheer horsepower. Though the honda is not a power house, it does shift when needed.
The only problems I have with the honda XL1000v varadero is there is no fuel gauge. The bike is equipped with a low fuel level light so you do know when to fill up again. I also don't like how the bike was not equipped with day time running headlights, instead the headlights on the bike are always on. Lastly, this bike is not best looking bike out there.
